The Story of Kind Cravings
I used to be one who enjoyed a good treat, no worries, able to eat whatever I pleased. That all changed when I turned eighteen, when I developed a number of symptoms that impacted my daily life. That is when my doctor tested me for food allergies, and it came back positive for four out of the nine major food allergies: Dairy, Wheat/Gluten, Tree nuts, & Sesame. Later in 2024, I would be tested once more and come to find that I had developed a peanut allergy.
When diagnosed with my food allergies, it felt like the world was over. How could I no longer be able to eat cake, cookies, pasta? Soon after I started to test out recipes, tested different brands of pasta-came to find that I preferred Rummo- and began testing baking recipies, specifically cookies. All were failures.
I did not like the texture of the flour blends, I was allowed to use. It took me over two years, to test and find what I found tasted similar to a "normal" cookie. It wasn't until my dad tasted a cookie, that I knew I found a recipe close to what was "normal." From then on, I began to further develop that one recipe until I have come to today. Now my preference is the S'mookie. The perfect blend of a nice chewy chocolate chip cookie and a s'more with the soft & light marshmallows. Not to say they all aren't good, but who doesn't enjoy a good s'more. So here we are, the beginning of a journey of creating a bakery that is meant for all to enjoy.
My goal, is to develop recipes that are made without gluten, dairy, tree nut, or peanuts products, and to further develop into the future with different flour blends and egg free options. I am glad to begin this journey, and I am looking forward to what this new chapter holds as we begin to build Kind Cravings. Welcome everyone, the story is just beginning!
